One of the first thing you will notice when arrive in India, apart from the smell and noise, are the colors. Indeed, few countries on the world are as colorful as this one. Also the colors of India are meaning something specific in Hindu culture and are some more prominent warn articulacy in religious ceremony. Let’s talk about them before photograph.

Orange

The most dominant color in India is the orange. It is in the India flag cause stands for courage and sacrifice. According with Hindu tradition, orange represents the Sacral Chakra.

Red

Red is dynamic and continuously breathing fire in the eyes of the beholder. It incites fear and is the color associated with one of the most revered goddesses in Hindu mythology , Durga. In fact her fiery image enhanced by her red tongue and almost red eyes. Red also stands for purity and is the preferred color for a bride’s garment. White

White represents peace, purity, infertility, asexuality, asceticism, and death. Traditionally if a wife loses her husband, she is expected to give up all forms of worldly pleasures and happiness. A widow would only wear white to show that she has renounced from participating with society and life in general.

Green

Green represents peace, happiness, life and nature. This is why widows don’t wear this colour. Green calms and stabilises the mind.

Blue

In hindu tradition Blue is associated with the Lord Krishna. Indians believe that blue is favoured the most by the Creator of the world, which is why blue is everywhere, in the sky and the oceans. It has a masculine quality and is associated with bravery, determination, stable mind, ability to deal with difficult situations and depth of character. Also is the color of the city of Jodhpur.

The last colors motion is the black. Usually it is associated with desirability, evil, negativity and inertia. Also it represents the strong emotions like anger. Finally can be associated with the absence of energy , barrenness and death.
