It’s hard to photograph iconic places that have been shot a bilion times and don’t copy the last who did it. Indeed it’s one of the great challenges for the travel photographer is to produce unique images of most famous and iconic places. The pyramids, Machu Picchu, Angkor Wat, the Eiffel Tower, the Great Wall, the Grand Canyon, the Taj Mahal.

Famous places and monuments are always worth a visit.It takes a lot of research and planning to set-up the shoot. When you see them for the first time, you will probably be tempted to immortalize them from every angle, while on a second visit you can approach them with greater calm and balance. You will know where the detail you want to portray is located, how the light behaves and at what time it is good to reach that point of observation. Taking new and interesting photos is possible: you just have to work on it. So i set a threefold goals that will help you do reach the goal.
Classic View
Start to spend five minutes looking at images of the country where you are and soon you will have an idea of what the classic views of its most famous places are considered. It’s absolutely worth taking a photo of a classic view. Anyway the challenge is to get a shot of quality equal to or higher than the existing ones. It is often easy to reach the observation points and redo the most known photos. In this case the problem is that the view must be the starting point of a personal interpretation, to be realized through the choice of the observation point, the objective and, of course, the light.
Different View
Once you have taken the shot of the classic view, think about how to immortalize it in an original way. Although is not so easy, especially when dealing with very famous subjects, which photographers have been dealing with for years. These shots require a combination of time, intelligent composition and splendid light. There are rare occasions when the stars line up on the first try. So generally it takes time to get a shot different from the usual. Walk around the area, check out the various perspectives, get closer if you can, and then walk away. Study various compositions as you become more familiar with the subject, trying different focal lengths. Above all, make sure you are there when the sun is low in the sky and the color of the light it is at its most intense.

Then try to take a third shot of your subject, and then try to fill the frame with a detail of it. In addition to representing a fun photographic challenge, the images thus obtained are often of greater interest to the observer than the classic views.
Learn for the masters to photograph iconic places
Each photographer interesting in capture iconic places should look and study how the masters have photograph this iconic places.
